The Arqus Café is a great opportunity to practise the language(s) you are learning in small groups and in a relaxed atmosphere. Participants can expand their linguistic and cultural knowledge together in informal conversations and make international contacts. We are still looking for tutors for the digital and the on-site-cafés.

  • Dates
    • The digital cafés will run from September 23 to December 6, 2024.
    • The on-site-cafés will take place from October 28, 2024 to January 31, 2025.

Please note that participants should have previous knowledge of the language (at least A2) to be able to actively participate. Some languages will be offered at two levels (A2/B1 and B2/C1).

The cafés will take place once a week for one hour either online via ZOOM or in the seminar building. The tutors leading the sessions are not language teachers, but very competent speakers of the respective languages.

This time we are offering cafés in Arabic, Belarusian, German, English, French, Italian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese – and more languages and cafés will likely still be added.

No teaching experience is necessary to offer a language café yourself. New tutors are invited to an introductory workshop to prepare them for their role as a tutor. You are welcome to register as a tutor for a language that you speak on a native-level/C1-level.
