The English-language events in the postdoc network allow you to gain insights into the work or research fields of other postdocs and offer time for informal exchange and networking.
What is the postdoc network?
The Postdoc Network is an informal network of all postdocs at Leipzig University. Every postdoc is welcome - this includes you as a doctoral researcher, junior research group leader, holder of a junior or tenure-track professorship or habilitated researcher!
The events organised by the Postdoc Network are coordinated by Academic Staff Development. Suggestions for possible events are always welcome! The following event formats are available in the Postdoc Network:
- regular events: Lunch'n'Talk (monthly) & Career Paths of Postdocs in Portrait (approximately every two months)
- irregular events: thematic networking opportunities
- by postdocs for postdocs: Postdoc Club (if required)

Coffee Conversation
Lunch'n'Talk is a monthly lunch programme for postdocs at Leipzig University. Over lunch together, you can discuss your everyday life as a postdoc and network.
Lunch'n'Talk takes place every 11th of the month between 12:30 and 13:30, usually in the Moritzbastei. If the 11th of the month falls on a weekend, the date will be postponed. It is necessary to register in advance for Lunch'n'Talk.
Thematic networking opportunities recognise the special role of postdocs in the academic system and encourage exchange on transdisciplinary, interdisciplinary or social issues. Possible topics include:
- AI in research and teaching,
- Women in the academic system or
- Conditions of postdocs in the science system.

After completing your doctorate, you will have a wide range of career paths and career options open to you - both within and outside the university environment. With the event series
"Coffee Conversations" (career paths outside the university) and
"Tea Time" (academic career paths)
give you the opportunity to exchange experiences in a relaxed atmosphere. You will gain insights into the career paths of invited guests. After an initial report by our guest, there will be plenty of space to exchange questions, wishes and experiences about professional life after the doctorate. Any questions about your professional career are welcome in a communicative atmosphere.

The Postdoc Club is an open meeting place by postdocs for postdocs in Leipzig. The content is proposed and contributed by the postdocs themselves.

How can I join the Postdoc Club?
In principle, everything is possible and permitted that has to do with your work as a postdoc at a Leipzig research institution, for example
- Round table
- Discussion (e.g. with the participation of several postdocs on an interdisciplinary topic)
- Film screening
- Insight into methods (e.g. in the laboratory, operating theatre, experimental room...)
- Guided tour of the campus or your own research facility, collection or museum
- Lecture
- Workshop
