Have you decided to pursue a career in science and are you ready to take this challenging path? This workshop will give you an insight into what it takes to make the "leap" to a lifetime professorship as a postdoc.
A career in academia is attractive - but academic career paths are also associated with a great deal of uncertainty and specific challenges. In this workshop, we will talk about the most important aspects of academic careers in Germany:
- The most important facts about the academic system in Germany
- What do I get - why is an academic career attractive?
- What are the risks and difficulties? And how can I minimise my risks?
- What achievements are necessary for an academic career (publications, third-party funding, networks, etc.)?
- What have I already achieved - what is still missing?
